First Christian Church practices the Biblical Principle of giving. The church supports Mission work both locally and throughout the world. We help reach children and adults for Jesus Christ. We help those in need. As you can see we help a variety of Mission groups on a monthly basis and take special offerings whenever special needs may arise. Below is a brief summary of each. CAMP CHRISTIAN - Camp Christian operating since 1941 is located in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands. It is a beautiful location set aside for the purpose of exalting the Divine Son of God and Savior of all who believe in and obey Him. It is a place where people of all ages can be still and know God who is. Many a young person has come to know Jesus by attending the many programs offered. camp-christian.org
C.E.S. (Christian Evangelistic Society) CES is a non-profit ministry extension of Christian Churches in the greater Pittsburgh region. THE CHRISTIAN HOUR - The Christians Hour broadcast began in 1943, and features outstanding Bible preachers. Ard Hoven of Cincinnati, OH., was first and served for 44 years as speaker. COMENSERV - This mission has been dedicated for years to helping Muslims in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to find Jesus. Many have come to know the peace of God in Christ. Many Muslims are open to the message and the freedom of living in God.
CHRISTIAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP - Christian Student Fellowship exists to: “lead lives that glorify God, build believers up in Christ, and tell others about the gospel of Jesus Christ and invite them into the family of God.” “Reaching students on the many campuses in the Greater Pittsburgh Area for the sake of the Gospel!” csfpgh.org
HAITIAN CHRISTIAN MISSION - This mission exists to empower the Haitian church to build better communities and better relationships between God and man through Jesus Christ; and to help the Haitian people rise above dependencies and achieve personal sustainability through their own God-given resources. hatianchristianmission.org
HIS PLACE - His Place’s mission is to enrich the lives of children, teens, families, and the homeless in the North Side of Pittsburgh through programs based on Biblical principles designed to meet their physical, educational, economic, and spiritual needs. IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services) - "IDES exists to meet physical and spiritual needs of suffering people throughout the world in the name of Jesus Christ." It focuses on Evangelism, Disaster Response, Hunger Relief, Development and Sustainability, and Medical Care. It has been awarded highly for its first response to disasters both nationally and internationally. ides.org
JOHNSON UNIVERSITY - Located outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, nestled in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains, Johnson University has helped students explore their passions and pursue their calling since 1893. The University's three-fold approach blends Arts & Sciences and Bible & Theology with Professional Study areas, preparing students for meaningful impact on the world in the name of Christ. JOSEPH CONNECTION - Located in Sydney, Ohio, this mission ministers to Children and at-risk groups that often fall between the cracks. Joseph Connection funds projects to meet basic, one time needs with the potential of returning yearly. Shoes, coats, groceries, meals, medical aid as well as education are used to touch the lives of the Least of the Least. It has taken the gospel into areas such as Russia, China and North Korea. Salvation Army, Intersection, Canton Christian Home, and Grundy Mountain Mission are among other missions the church supports through special offerings received throughout the year. The church is not limited to the number of missions and people it has supported throughout its history and will continue to do so when needs arise.
