BIBLE STUDY IN JUDE
We had plans to spend a few weeks in the letter written by Jude at the Wednesday Bible Study. Below is a list of the questions I put together combined from other studies and my own. You can do it at home as a guide for some Bible study on your own. When we can reconvene, you will have a background and can participate fully in the study. Wouldn’t it be great if all of you would do it and then all of you put aside Wednesday evening and attend the study. It would be a preacher’s dream.
The Epistle of Jude:
- Read Matthew 24:11-13. What did Jesus warn would arise? What would happy to the love of many? Who were the ones who could be saved?
- Read Acts 20:29-30. What does Paul say will happen to many disciples? Does he give a reason for this? How does this relate to what is happening today?
- Read II Peter 1:3 What was Peter’s warning here? What was his greatest concern in reference to the warning?
- Read I John 2:18; I John 4:1 and II John 1:7. What do these verses have in common and what do they tell us?
Read Jude in its entirety before going any further.
- Who was Jude?
- Who were the recipients of this letter?
- What was the purpose of this letter according to v. 3?
- What do you think it means “to contend earnestly for the faith?”
- What three words does Jude use to describe the Christians in v 1?
- In v. 3, there are certain truths about which must be held? What are those truths as stated in this verse?
- According to v. 4, why do we have to contend for the faith? What specific two things does Jude point out?
- In what ways can a man deny Jesus?
- What three examples or warnings does Jude use to remind the people of God’s judgment?
- What happened to the Israelites? the Angels? Sodom and Gomorrah?
- What was the assumption of Moses in v. 9?
- Jude speaks of false prophets. List the qualities and characteristics of the false teachers who are condemned in this letter? (v. 8 – 19) (I have 11 listed)
- V. 11 speaks of three more examples of those who were judged for their perversions? Who were they and do you remember what happened in each particular example given. (Check these scriptures out. Genesis 4:1-15; Numbers chapters 22, 23, 24; Numbers 16 1-35. This should keep you busy for awhile. J
- What four things does Jude admonish the beloved (dear friends) in v. 20 and v. 21 to do?
- What is Jude suggesting in vs. 22 and 23?
- In v. 23, Jude praises God. What is it that God can do and does for the Christian?
- What characteristics does Jude refer to in his doxology v. 25?
22. What have you learned personally from this study that can make a difference in how you live as a Christian? What encouraged you the most?
