We are constantly told how communicable the corona virus is and that we should be respectful of one another and especially the elderly. One of our local churches just announced that one of its members tested positive and thereby advising its members. I read this morning of a church in Arkansas that does not have a stay at home advisory where 30 of its 80 members have tested positive and lost one of its elderly women. I also read where a choir in Washington State had 60 in rehearsal and three weeks later 45 tested positive, 3 hospitalized, and 2 died. It’s not government closing our doors for religious institutions are not included in the mandate. However, prudence would dictate otherwise and that’s what the leaders of the church are practicing. It is a decision not lightly made.
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday. Texts and phone trees will keep you informed. We must examine this week by week .I long to see you in worship. Join in prayer every evening at 7 PM. Set your phone alarms to go off at 7 each day to remind you to pray for at least one minute or more. We will all be doing something together at the same time even though we are not in the same place. The Holy Spirit will enjoin our hearts. It will make a difference.
God tells us to bring our petitions to Him. When we ask in accordance to His will, He hears our prayers. You ask, how do we know His will? Simply read the Bible. God’s word is alive and sharper than a two edged sword. The Bible opens our heart and minds to His ways. Praying without ceasing is much easier than you think when you remember to keep God in the picture of every aspect of your life. We see all the signs of spring about us. Contemplate on what it means to see the newness of life coming forth once again and the promise that has been made about eternal life for we who believe in the resurrection of Jesus. It is the center of our faith. It is the hope that motivates us. It is a promise you can count on. Be smart, Be safe; Be well; Be encouraged. Ray
